Diving Program

Any Bishop McDevitt High School student that wishes to participate on the high school's swimming and diving team AS A DIVER must register with a local training program. Bishop McDevitt students are strongly encouraged to register with the age group & high school diving program under the direction of John Ricci. The rules for participation in the diving program and adherence to the policies and payments set forth by Coach Ricci and his staff should be followed by any prospective student.

Bishop McDevitt Diving Parent Liaison: Colleen McDonnell

Colleen McDonnell currently has a junior diver, Cayden for the 2024-25 season. Cayden's older brother, Devin graduated in 2020 after a distinguished diving career for Bishop McDevitt. Colleen welcomes any general questions from McD parents with a perspective diver.

Age Group & High School Diving Program

Bishop McDevitt students and their parents should contact Coach Ricci for any changes or additions to the information listed below.

What: Fall/Winter diving program designed for divers 12 years of age and up and High School divers. The program will include: stretching/flexibility basics, strength development activities, and drills for the forward and backward takeoffs. Divers will learn basic to advanced springboard diving mechanics. Participants will begin performing the very basic dives and progress to the more complex dives. Age group meets will be held for younger divers and High School aged divers will be prepared for their High School meets.

Dear Divers and Parents:

Diving practice will begin on Saturday Nov. 2nd at the Derry Township pool. I look forward to practices starting. We have some new divers and some experienced divers participating this year and I am excited with the challenge of coaching all of you. The schedule is not entirely carved in stone yet and am still working on some possibilities for extra practices in the water.

2024-25 Registration Fees
* Club/coaching fees for Bishop McDevitt students competing for the varsity high school swimming & diving team will be covered by the high school. The AAU fee (an annual membership that is valid beyond the high school sports season) is paid for by the individual family.

There will be a one-time AAU fee assessed to each diver ($50). The fee covers athlete's AAU membership, the club team membership and insurance certificates for all the facilities where practices occur. All divers will be required to be enrolled in the club AAU team for insurance purposes.

The club/coaching fee (four payments of $300 to cover months November-March) is assessed each month and will be used to pay for the time at the Derry Township facility, trampoline time at Paramount and for the coaching fee. The club/coaching fee is due on the first practice of the given month. The November fee is due on Saturday, November 2. Please make a check payable to Coach John Ricci (payable to John Ricci). Individuals cannot practice until the fee is paid.

2024-25 Registration Form

Please complete the team registration form and return with payment to John Ricci for $50.00 at the meeting on Saturday, November 2. Pease write clearly and legibly on the form.

Attending Practices
Please wear shorts and a t-shirt to practice over your bathing suit as we will do some stretching prior to getting in the pool. Remember, you are all required to get a physical to participate in high school sports, so make sure this process is completed.
