Information previously provided when Mid Penn meet was re-instated by the Mid Penn Conference
. . . . .
On Wednesday, January 27, the Mid-Penn Conference voted to bring back a modified conference championship meet at the end of the season after deciding before the start of the year to not have one in an effort to mitigate the risk of spreading the coronavirus.
The Mid Penn conference meet will be held on February 19 and 20 at Cumberland Valley High School. The district championships will be held on March 6, with Class 2A set to be hosted by Central York and Class 3A set to be hosted by Cumberland Valley.
There will only be 12 qualifiers in each event at the Mid Penn meet, however, unlike past years, which consisted of both Class 2A and Class 3A swimmers competing against one another, the two classes will be broken out separately.
The dates of the meet will consist of one gender competing on each day, though which day will be for boys swimming and which will be for girls remains to be determined.
The Mid Penn meet will run for two and a half hours with eight-minute breaks in between each event to give swimmers time to rest. After the end of each day's morning session, there will be a 30- to 45-minute break to sanitize the bleachers, pool deck and other areas.
The Cumberland Valley Natatorium will allow for 75 swimmers to be on the deck at one point with 10 to 12 officials and two coaches permitted per school. Additional swimmers and coaches will be able to spread out in other areas near the pool where a live stream of the meet will be aired.
There will be no spectators permitted at the meet.
